Key point: This dated hotfix explanation does not identify the current build to install.

This is an explanation of the August 14, 2026 Steam hotfix, not a claim that it is the latest build you should install today. Capcom requires the latest game version for online multiplayer and downloadable content; use the current update list when troubleshooting a present-day installation.

The two fixes should not be confused

Key point: The two patches address separate frame-rate and Render Scaling problems.

Capcom’s published update summary says 1.042.00.02 takes measures against frame-rate drops in some environments after 1.042.00.01. The earlier August 7 entry separately fixes a Render Scaling setting that was not applied. These explain the intent of the patches; they do not establish a universal percentage improvement.

A ten-minute check that can tell you something useful

Key point: Compare a repeatable route while recording settings, build and driver versions.

A smoother-looking hunt is encouraging, but it is hard to learn from two completely different scenes. Pick one short route you can repeat, keep the same resolution and graphics preset, and write down the game build and graphics-driver version before starting. Include Render Scaling, because the preceding 1.042.00.01 fix concerned a setting that was not being applied.

Key point: Two short matching runs offer observations, not comprehensive benchmark evidence.

For an illustrative test, use a three-minute route twice with the same settings and compare the same parts of the route. Note whether the symptom is a consistently low frame rate, brief stutters or a crash. These are proposed observation periods, not benchmark results or a guarantee that a ten-minute check captures every problem.

Key point: Change one variable at a time without downgrading to recreate old conditions.

If you update a driver and lower three graphics settings at the same time, you may get a better session but lose the ability to tell which change helped. Keep a note of the old values and alter one variable at a time. Do not downgrade a live installation just to recreate an old patch comparison.

RecordWhy it matters
Game build and driver versionSeparates a game update from a driver change.
Resolution, preset and Render ScalingKeeps the rendering workload comparable.
Route, symptom and point of occurrenceMakes a support report reproducible rather than simply “laggy”.
Key point: Recheck the dated driver notice before making installation decisions.

The driver notice on Capcom’s checked page is also more nuanced than “newer is always better”: it lists AMD Radeon 25.9.1 or newer while warning of identified issues with 25.10.2 and higher. Treat that as a dated support notice to recheck, not a permanent recommendation to install or remove a particular driver.

A support report needs context

Key point: A useful support report identifies the symptom, versions and reproduction steps.

Keep the exact problem, the version where you first noticed it, the current version and a short reproduction path. Distinguish a crash from low average frame rate or intermittent stutter. Those are different symptoms, even if a casual description calls all of them “lag”. Include only information needed by the official support process, not account secrets.

Keep expansion news separate

Key point: Expansion announcements cannot answer whether a PC hotfix resolves your problem.

The 2027 Ascendance announcement does not answer whether a present-day PC patch resolves a problem on your hardware. Read the current update notes for that question, then the expansion guide if you are deciding whether to return for new content. JKOOK GAME has not benchmarked this patch; its role here is to explain the documented change and a useful way to check your situation.
